As a Stationary Engineer (Relief Shift), you’ll be responsible for the operation and troubleshooting of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment and systems at Checkerboard Square using trade skills required of a Class I Stationary Engineer. You will fill in for shift Engineers on their days off and operate on a rotating shift.
- Primarily monitor and operate boilers, as well as other mechanical systems, including chillers, pumps, generators, and HVAC equipment
- Adjust equipment settings to maintain proper temperature, pressure, and other conditions
- Conduct routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions and prepare work orders for necessary repairs or replacements
- Monitor and test safety devices, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards
- Respond promptly to equipment failures or emergencies, taking appropriate action to minimize damage and ensure safety
- Maintain accurate records of equipment performance, maintenance activities, and energy consumption
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid driver’s license
- Environmental Protection Agency approved refrigerant certification (Universal)
- City of St. Louis Class 1 Stationary Engineers License
- 1+ years of experience in a commercial or industrial work environment
- 1+ years of experience working with single & three phase electricity and power distribution systems up to 480 volts
Other
- Technical diploma or degree in industrial maintenance, engineering technology, or a related field is preferred
- 1+ years of experience working with ammonia refrigeration systems is preferred
- 1+ years of experience in overall building operational systems is preferred
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed is preferred
- Must be willing to work a rotating shift as follows: two days on 1st shift (7:00am-3:00pm), two days 2nd shift (3:00pm-11:00pm), two days on 3rd shift (11:00pm-7:00am), then off two days. Days off will progressively move forward by one day each week.
- Must be able to perform the physical requirements necessary, such as lifting and carrying up to 50+ pounds, to meet the expectations of job assignments
After the 31st day of employment you must become and remain a member in good standing in the union.
The approximate hourly pay for this position is $42.55. Please note that the pay provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
