As a Technology Communications Electrician, you’ll install, maintain, and repair, data/communication network systems and associated hardware using trade skills required of a journeyman electrician. You’ll have the opportunity to work with the following systems: Communications/Data Network, Card Access and CCTV systems, Public Address systems, Audio/Visual systems, Fire monitoring and Power monitoring Networks.
- Ensure proper sizing of power supplies, junction boxes, wire, low voltage equipment, hardware, conduit, and over current protection according to the National Electrical Code
- Install and test low voltage cabling, such as CAT6 and Fiber Optic
- Understand and apply knowledge of Data Communication Network principles, including switches, routers, and modems
- Work with AV integrated conference rooms, including teams, AMX, and Crestron
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in fiber optic, serial, and ethernet technology
- Installing radio and intercom systems
- Assemble, evaluate, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, and apparatus to include fire alarm systems and equipment
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- 3+ years of professional experience in low voltage technology/device installation
Other
- Related electrical or system certifications or trainings are preferred
- Experience with fiber optic cables and Cat 6 termination is preferred
- Must be willing to work Tuesday through Friday 7:30AM to 4:00PM and Saturday 6:00AM to 2:30PM
- Must be willing to perform a variety of physical activities including frequent bending, reaching below the waist and overhead, and lifting items weighing 50+ pounds
- Must be willing to frequently climb and descend steps, stairs or ladders throughout the shift
- Must be willing to stand or walk most of the work shift
- Must be willing to work overtime
After the 31st day of employment you must become and remain a member in good standing in the union.
The approximate hourly pay for this position is $40.71. Please note that the pay provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
