Position Summary

 

We planted our roots in St. Louis home back in 1894. Since then, we’ve expanded our manufacturing to 21 facilities across the United States and St. Louis has grown into what some would call a “hidden gem”. The Nestlé Purina Support Center manufactures, repairs, inventories and tests the equipment used to make pet products around the world, while protecting the proprietary nature of the fabrication of Nestlé Purina production equipment. The facility utilizes a modern Machine Shop, a Sheet Metal and Welding Fabrication Shop, which have allowed the site to build a sizable spare parts inventory to provide even faster service to NPPC Factories.

As a Welder B, you will be responsible for the operation and use of overhead cranes, oxygen/acetylene torch, hand-held plasma cutter, CNC brake press, TIG and MIG welding equipment, and other equipment as needed. You will also work cross-functionally with all Support Center staff.

*This position will sit on a 2nd shift*

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Proficient in producing quality welds in both appearance and penetration in TIG and MIG welding
  • Operation of the following equipment: time saver polishing machine, welding equipment, CNC brake press, shear, plate rolls
  • Ability to pass any and all weld test that may be given after training and be able to maintain the standards required
  • Proficient in blueprint reading and weld symbols, while maintaining accurate records and documents
  • Working with Class A Welders assisting in the fit up and finish welding of projects to drawing requirements
  • Perform all other duties as assigned


Basic Qualifications:

  • Education: Welding certificate or degree from approved technical trade school in welding/fabrication technologies
  • Experience: 2+ years’ experience welding on heavy equipment in a manufacturing, industrial, military, or related environment
