Position Summary
Your larger team – the Technical Applications Group – creates the flavors, shapes and textures often developed in marketing and brought to life through innovative engineering. In your role as a Process Specialist, you will make a key contribution in the area of Wet Pet Food Processing technology. Primary responsibilities in this position will include researching, introducing, and promoting manufacturing equipment, processes, technologies and standards that make our production more efficient and effective. You will have the opportunity to collaborate cross-functionally, lead project teams, interface with leadership, bring new products to market, stand up new manufacturing lines and factories, provide technical input to multi-site capital investment projects, and provide expert technical assistance to address product, process, or quality challenges in our factories.
Although you will often work independently in role (depending on level of experience), much of your time will be spent working collaboratively in cross-functional teams on innovation and renovation projects, capacity expansion projects and continuous improvement projects. We’ll count on you to leverage your sharp engineering background and experience with food production to help us develop modern equipment, concepts, and techniques that take our products from concept
This position will require the ability to travel up to 60%.
- Conduct pilot scale experiments, industrial scale trial runs, and first saleable production runs with new equipment, processes and/or products.
- Develop or refine then document processing equipment standards and routines for both new and existing equipment.
- Ideate, assess and implement process-related continuous improvement opportunities that advance safety, quality, efficiency, reliability, hygiene, yield, cost savings, etc. in our factories.
- Collaborate with Corporate Engineering and R&D to establish and formalize project priorities, technical requirements, timelines and budgets.
- During the design/build phase of new capability or capacity expansion projects, verify that new production lines are created in accordance with divisional standards.
- Organize site acceptance testing of key equipment to verify it satisfies technical performance criteria.
- Teach, coach and assess Factory associates as well as provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced TAG team members.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, electrical, mechanical engineering or a related technical field
- 2+ years of experience working with food or chemical processing within in an industrial, manufacturing, production or related environment.
