Position Summary
We have an exciting opportunity as a Food Safety Manager joining our site in Staverton overseeing the effective and efficient management of the site hygiene contractors, pest control activities, food safety audits & compliance with microbiological standards.

Your Impact
This role will focus on supporting the factory to produce safe, compliant and First Time Right product and minimise losses through food safety systems. You will lead a team of specialists and work with the Quality Manager in reviewing and planning quality improvements across the factory.
The key responsibilities of this role include:
- Drive the food safety strategy for the site, with a focus on foreign body elimination and pathogen management co-ordinate activities to achieve compliance with the FSSC 22000 (Food Safety) and other applicable standards.
- Co-ordinate the update of factory quality systems including HACCP & Implement Pre requisite programs
- Support the review of food safety management through the Food Safety team.
- Support factory readiness for internal and external audits and carry out internal and external audits as required
- Act as the quality adviser for key factory changes and projects to ensure that all food safety requirements are considered
- Support the factory in hygiene and Good Manufacturing Practice standards, with particular focus on shared and common areas.
- Manage the pathogen monitoring programme for the factory and co-ordinate the follow up of out of specification results.
- Co-ordinate validation activities for food safety (CCP validation, cleaning validation, foreign body detector validation, etc).
- Manage the pest control contractor for the site and work with them to reduce pest related issues and consumer complaints
- Act as challenger and support for microbiological and food safety incidents including support for corrective actions and close out. .
- Support investigation of IMS complaints and consumer complaints including support for corrective actions and close out
What will make you successful?
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a in depth knowledge of food safety and will have a background working in an environment committed to continuous improvement
Other key attributes include:
- Ideally educated to degree qualified in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry or science related studies
- Preferably experience in a food/ drink manufacturing environment
- Food Safety level 3, HACCP Level 3,
- Lead Auditor certificate would be desirable
- Knowledge of ISO9001, 22000, 45001
- Good knowledge of products & processes to ensure hygiene/cleaning standards are appropriately applied
- Experience of the application of cleaning & disinfection techniques
- Good understanding of pathogen controls & preventative measures
- Sound knowledge of GMP and its application
- Attention to detail, Root cause analysis and problem solving
- Strong influencing skills- Able to communicate at all levels of the organisation
