Position Summary 

 

We’re launching a major transformation project to expand our Staverton factory and significantly increase production capacity. As part of this large-scale investment, we are seeking a Project Engineer specialising in Electrical, Automation & Digitalisation to lead the delivery of smart, safe, and efficient systems that will power the future of cereal production. This is a unique opportunity to take a leading role in a high-impact, multi-year capital investment.  

 
As Project Engineer – Electrical, Automation & Digitalisation, you will be responsible for the design, specification, installation, and commissioning of all electrical, automation, and digital systems supporting the new factory infrastructure. This includes power distribution, control systems, SCADA/MES integration, and digital performance monitoring tools. 

 

You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to ensure that all systems meet safety, quality, and performance standards while aligning with CPW’s digital strategy. 

 

This is a full-time, fixed-term opportunity with flexible working arrangements depending on the project phase. Full on-site presence will be required during the implementation phase. 

 

A day in the life of a Project Engineer 

  • Lead the electrical and automation scope of the factory expansion project, from design through commissioning 
  • Ensure all EAD systems comply with safety, environmental, and product quality standards 
  • Specify and implement SCADA/MES solutions aligned with corporate and site-level digital strategies 
  • Oversee installation and commissioning of power distribution, control panels, instrumentation, and automation systems 
  • Support the integration of digital tools for performance monitoring, data analytics, and predictive maintenance 
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and IT teams to ensure seamless system integration 
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure machinery safety compliance (e.g. PUWER, CE marking) 
  • Support root cause analysis, continuous improvement, and operator training initiatives 
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation for all EAD systems and ensure knowledge transfer to site teams

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Automation, or Control Engineering 
  • Proven Track record delivering electrical and automation projects in a manufacturing environment (FMCG preferred) 
  • Strong knowledge of process control, instrumentation, PLC/HMI programming, and loop tuning 
  • Experience with SCADA systems, IO servers, HMI, historians, and SQL databases 
  • Familiarity with Windows Server environments and industrial network architecture 
  • Understanding of TPM, preventive maintenance, and digital reliability tools is a plus 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoDesk tools (AutoCAD, Navisworks) 
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project coordination skills
