Position Summary
The Senior Automation & MES Engineer is responsible for ensuring as a team we achieve factory electrical compliance and KPIs through the development of the workforce and the appropriate application of technology whilst adhering to company policies and statutory regulations. This is an exciting role that will have a key influence in delivering automation and digitalisation on site.

A day in the life of a Senior Automation & MES Engineer
We’re looking for someone to be a team lead, setting an example and coaching those around you. To drive the site forward whilst supervising the team, doing so in line with corporate guidelines, enforcing that all MES-A activities enhance business objectives, product quality and plant operation/performance while ensuring that people health and safety, product safety, and environment are never compromised.
Other key day-to-day activities will be:
• Building engineering capability with the MES and automation field, ensuring employees are competent to perform maintenance tasks.
• Ensures that team managing, operating and maintaining MES-Automation equipment and infrastructure are competent to do so.
• Ensures that competency assessment and competency building plans are in place, routinely reviewed and executed for the Industrial Services team.
• Attend breakdowns to both plant and equipment to manage day-to-day needs of the production department.
• Building strong awareness of departmental needs to maximise production output and ensuring the smooth flow of the operation.
• Ensure Process & Equipment safety for people, products and environment
• Participates in the Capex and installation projects.
• Implement performance improvement projects as identified by the teams.
• Supervise the technical team and supervision of third parties.
What will make you successful
To be successful in this key role we expect you to ideally have experience working in a FMCG manufacturing automation maintenance environment and have strong service orientation amongst internal stakeholders with clear leadership capability.
Other Key Requirements are:
• Qualified within one of the following course Level 3 NVQ Engineering Maintenance/ National Certificate/Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or hold a Higher National Certificate/Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Electrical Engineering Degree from an IET approved course.
• Extensive practical engineering experience and ideally management experience at supervisory level.
• Experience required in Process Control, Loop Tuning, Instrumentation and PLC/HMI programming
• Ideally experience delivering on digitalisation within manufacturing (i.e. Industry 4.0)
• Ideally managing safely and Intermediate food hygiene.
• Previous experience being part of projects and also leading project is preferable.
• Exposure to TPM, preventive maintenance planning and/or maintenance execution desired.
