We are looking for a Project Engineer, based at our Purina factory in Sudbury.

A day in the life of...

As a Project Engineer, you will form part of the projects engineering team, leading the design, implementation and supporting the start-up phases of capital investment projects on the manufacturing site.

 

Other key day-to-day activities will be:

 

  • Ensuring that the objectives of the investment project charter and design specifications are appropriately implemented and Nestlé standards are adhered to.
  • Support the Operational start –up leader and project engineering manager with developing the investment charter.
  • Execute the basic and detailed design of the project based on Nestlé ways of working including gate principles, standards, local regulations, the defined User Requirements Specifications and the TPM characteristics of a unit operation (safety, quality, affordability, maintainability, operability and reliability).
  • Ensure by design the workers, and operators, safety during both the construction and the ongoing operation of the plant.
  • Ensure that the engineering side of the project is implemented (e.g. buildings, equipment erections, piping, utilities, etc.) in accordance with the defined timing, cost and quality, the URS and the characteristics of a unit operation.
  • Ensure all of the elements of the project (including technical people training, as needed) is performed in such a way that safety is always guaranteed on the whole project site and that a vertical start-up is assured.
  • Select and qualify contractors and coordinate their activities. Ensure that Nestlé standards are applied.
  • Ensure training of employees and contractors is up to date.
  • Support the start-up manager and their team to ensure a smooth transition to operations after the qualification and verification of the installation.
  • Contribute to and support the preparation and distributing the engineering project documentation.
  • As part of the engineering team, you will be expected to develop and maintain an expert knowledge base and coach and develop those around you.
     
What Will Make You Successful?

To be successful in this key role we ideally expect you to have experience working in a FMCG manufacturing, project engineering and have strong service orientation amongst internal stakeholders with lots of proactive initiative and attention to detail.

 

Other key attributes we are looking for areas:

 

  • Ideally educated in Mechanical/and or Electrical Engineering to Degree, HNC or ONC level and/or completion of a recognised apprenticeship.
  • Experience managing Capital expenditure project management.
  • Participation in the development of engineering projects as part of a multidisciplinary team (including different products and technologies in Electrical and Automation areas, desirable but not essential)
  • Participation in the start-up of technical equipment(s) and/or production line(s)
  • Proficient with Microsoft products.
  • Exposure to TPM is desired but not required.
