Position Summary
We are looking for a Food Safety Specialist based at our Sterling Rd factory reporting into reporting into the Food Safety Team Leader. Ensure implementation and execution of operational standards and strategies on issues relating to specific areas (e.g. sensory, food safety including food contact material, non-food items, chemical contaminants, hygiene, pest control, microbiology, foreign body, statistical process control, net content management, allergen management); This position is an existing vacancy.
A day in the life of a Food Safety Specialist
A day in the life of a Food Safety Specialist you will provide operational technical support, in design and continuous improvement activities, across different business and manufacturing processes in the above specific food safety areas.
You will also:

Participate in Food Safety Team activities and training.

Complete HACCP reviews, updates.
-
Manage Internal and External Audits.
-
Handle consumer complaints and coordinate investigations.
-
Manage internal document control and SOP's.
-
Provide technical guidance on food safety risks, foreign body control, allergen management, hygiene, pest control, and chemical/physical/microbiological hazards.
-
Lead and support root cause investigations using tools such as GSTD, contributor analysis, and risk assessments.

Manage IPM (Integrated Pest Management) program
-
Track and analyse consumer complaint KPI's.
-
Support and update Pre-requisite programs and plans.
-
Provide support for Food Safety and Quality in production.
-
Follow up on Quality actions and involve other functions in analysis and corrective actions.
-
Deliver Food Safety training and coaching to Team Leads, associates, and contractors on the production floor.
-
Conduct FHF observations and provide leadership on the shop floor.
-
Support other departments and initiatives.
-
Ensure compliance with Quality Management System and standards.
-
Create and issue QA Alerts.
-
Maintain an up-to-date glass registry.
-
Attend DOR/WOR meetings for Business Units.
-
Collaborate with maintenance to address any interior/exterior nonconformances.
-
Perform backup duties as required.
What Will Make You Successful:

Have a proven track record of delivering results through cross-functional teamwork.

Be skilled in developing and delivering training for technical and non-technical personnel.
-
Have experience in Managing Change processes in the factory.
-
Participate in food safety activities such as mapping, hunting, and investigations.
-
Follow up on Quality actions and drive root cause analysis and corrective actions.
-
Offer ongoing training and coaching to Team Leads, associates, and contractors.
Requirements
- University graduate or equivalent, preferably in microbiology or a life science-related field.

HACCP certification

FSSC 22000 lead auditor certification
-
ISO 9001 lead auditor certification
-
PCQI certification
