Position Summary

We are looking for a Safety, Health and Environment Team Leader based at our Sterling road factory reporting into the Safety, Health and Environment Manager. This position is an existing vacancy. 

 

A day in the life of the Safety, Health and Environment Team Leader

The SHE Team Leader plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, compliant, and engaged factory environment in a fast paced environment. This position supports incident management, regulatory compliance, hazard control, audits, training, and continuous improvement of SHE systems. This is a hands‑on leadership role requiring strong technical ability, attention to detail, and the ability to influence and coach cross‑functional teams.

 

You will also:

  • Provide technical expertise and support for implementing and maintaining HSE programs/systems throughout Company.               
  • Deliver safety onboarding and ongoing training for employees and Team Leaders (LOTO, PTW, high hazard tasks, emergency response, etc.).
  • Provides assistance to the Team Leaders in incident investigations, identifying root causes, reporting, documentation, and follow-up, and ensures corrective actions are closed in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate and participate in monthly JHSC inspections and meetings  
  • Participation in daily operational review meetings on the production floor, promotes safety objectives and goals, and fosters good relationships to gain commitment from all employees       
  • Support adherence to all company health, safety and environmental standards, policies and procedures while maintaining on-going knowledge of local, provincial, and federal guidelines.                             
  • Seeks continuous improvement to safety programs by assisting in monthly departmental safety inspections, periodic and annual audits, and the implementation of subsequent action plans.
  • Maintain and update SHE procedures, safety standards, and compliance documentation.
  • Support emergency response preparedness, including drills, evacuation plans, and coordination with external responders.
  • Participate in ISO 45001 and 14001 as well as Nestle Internal audits.
  • Conduct workplace inspections and internal audits to identify risks and drive corrective actions.
  • Monitor safety performance trends and support action plans for continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Production, Maintenance, QA, Facilities, and contractors to ensure safe work practices and hazard controls.
  • Maintain accurate SHE records and ensure legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Other duties may be assigned

 

What will make you successful?

  • Diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a manufacturing SHE role.
  • Strong understanding and application of the OH&S Act and Regulations and ISO 45001/14001 systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting workplace investigations and root cause analysis is required.
  • Strong time management, planning and organizational skills to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication, report-writing and presentation skills; critical thinking , problem-solving and negotiation skills
  • High attention to detail; ability to analyse trends and drive proactive action plans.
  • Strong analytical skills and MS-office experience.
  • Ability to coach Team Leaders and frontline employees on safe behaviours and compliance.
  • Capacity to work efficiently with minimal supervision, while thriving in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to have bold and courageous conversations.
  • Flexible to work different shifts as required
