What to Expect: 

As Training Coordinator, you will report to the HR Manager and manage training and development for employees at our unionized Sterling Road factory. You will turn business and site priorities into practical training plans, materials, programs, and tracking processes; support internal recruitment and job postings under the collective agreement; and manage on-the-job training for hourly employees. Working with HR, factory trainers, employees, site committees, and external partners, you will build capability while supporting quality, food safety, environmental, and workplace safety standards. This is an existing vacancy.


A day in the life:

  • Develop and manage the site training plan and budget to support organizational priorities and annual training targets.
  • Conduct training needs analyses, primarily for hourly employees, and translate identified needs into effective learning solutions.
  • Create clear training materials, technical documentation, and business communications, and deliver in-house training activities.
  • Manage training events and programs from planning through delivery, evaluation, follow-up, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage the on-the-job training program and coach factory trainers to strengthen training quality and performance.
  • Support internal recruitment and job postings in line with the collective agreement, including internal moves and related training processes.
  • Track training completion and other training statistics using Excel, Access, or similar tools, and maintain accurate training records.
  • Maintain and update factory standard operating procedures and relevant intranet content.
  • Coordinate with approved vendors and consultants, using cost-effective training approaches while maintaining quality.
  • Support internal audits and site compliance activities related to Quality, Food Safety, Environment, and Health and Safety standards.
  • Participate in applicable site committees and responsibilities, including NEMS, Food Safety, Document Control, and the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
  • Work independently in a fast-paced factory environment and adjust priorities as operational needs change.
  • Will be responsible for internal recruitment and job postings as per our Collective Agreement. 


Role Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in a related field.
  • 2–4 years of experience in training, learning & development, technical writing, or a similar role.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, technical writing, and project management skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of Food Safety, HACCP, ISO standards, and Quality Management Systems (NQMS).


Preferred Skills

  • Experience in manufacturing, food manufacturing, or a unionized environment.
  • Experience with instructional design and training program development.
  • Experience supporting compliance, quality, food safety, environmental, or health & safety programs.
  • Experience coaching trainers or managing on-the-job training programs.
