We are recruiting for Project Engineers, to join our team based at our state of the art Nestle Tutbury Factory. This is a permanent opportunity which will report into the Project Engineering Manager.

 

The Nestlé Tutbury Factory in Derbyshire is one of the largest Nestlé factories in Europe after circa £500 million investment over the last few years. The factory is a Centre of excellence for Nescafé products around the world producing freeze-dried, spray dried and pod coffee technologies and is at the forefront of coffee innovation globally. The factory is moving forward with continuous improvement principles and actively developing Lean/TPM processes so it’s an exciting time to be involved.

Your impact

A day in the life of a Project Engineer is dynamic and is dependent on the status of the project some of which have been demonstrated below.

  • Concept stage – you will be engaging with stakeholders, suppliers and technical support to agree a design which satisfies the technical, quality and safety standards of the business. You will also prepare business case studies to present to the business for CAPEX funding approval.

 

  • Installation stage - you will be coordinating the daily and upcoming activities. This will include managing contractors and suppliers and permitting work daily. It will be vital for you to ensure site safety and the install quality. At the same time, you will be communicating back to stakeholders to update on progress, budget and timelines.

 

  • Completion of project – once the project is approaching its end, you will play a key role in ensuring safe and compliant handover from any contractors who have been supporting the project to enable the site to utilise the project improvements in a timely and efficient manner.

 

Your ingredients for success

To be successful in this role, having experience managing Capex projects will be essential. We would also expect you to ideally have experience working in a FMCG manufacturing environment.

 

The ideal candidate will also have experience ensuring that the engineering side of projects have been implemented (e.g. buildings, equipment installations, piping, utilities, etc.) in accordance with the defined timing, cost and quality, the URS and the characteristics of a unit operation.

 

 

Other key attributes we are looking for are:

 

• Ideally degree educated in a mechanical, electromechanical, electrical, or civil engineering field and / or completion of a recognised apprenticeship.

 

• Technical knowledge and practical experience of working within Health & Safety legislation (PUWER CDM etc.)

 

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely with the others eg, Safety Health & Environment, Production, Maintenance, QA, Contractors etc. to ensure compliance especially regarding health and safety on site.

 

• Leadership skills, ability to lead meetings delegate tasks to other members of the project team. A self-starter with initiative to research topics and work out solutions with minimal supervision.

 

• Financial management skills: reviewing, controlling and forecasting spent, and working closely with the purchasing department to tender for and purchase new equipment.
