Position Summary
As a Legal Counsel - IP, you will provide legal support to the Business and manage a dynamic portfolio alignment with internal stakeholders to enable the protection, defense and enforcement of trademarks, designs, copyrights, domain names.

A Day in the Life of a Legal Counsel - IP
- Advise the Business on trademark, design, copyright and domain names issues, conducting global assessments on risk analysis, chances of success, and costs related to infringements, unfair competition actions, and oppositions.
- Manage, protect and enforce global trademark and design portfolios in coordination with the Business including in their projects and in the development of IP rights.
- Handle trademark and copyright aspects of advertising, promotion, and packaging materials, ensuring compliance and mitigating risks.
- Manage trademark licenses with third parties, and review IP clauses in partnerships/co-branding agreements.
- Handle litigation on IP matters, including instructions and coordination with local outside counsels and in-house regional lawyers, as well as follow-up on legal proceedings, ensuring cost-management and consistency of legal proceedings. Negotiate settlements, and review draft documents such as cease and desist letters, notices of opposition, settlement agreements and co-existence agreements.
- Conduct and review clearance searches and coordinate Brand IP filing and prosecution with Paralegals.
- Monitor IP filings by competitors and contribute to various working and competence groups within the IP legal function.
- Raise awareness and importance of IP to internal stakeholders, actively participating in developing and implementing robust IP strategy and competency development initiatives.
- Providing additional legal advice and support to the Business in connection with the above as needed. Therefore experience in other legal areas is a plus.
What will make you successful
- Law degree or qualification as a Trademark attorney.
- Experience as an in-house Legal Counsel within an international environment.
- Proven experience in the field of Intellectual Property (IP).
- Previous exposure to pre-Litigation and Litigation matters.
- The ability to manage a broad range of stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work autonomously.
- Proactive and business-oriented mindset.
- Excellent team player, able to collaborate effectively within a matrix organization.
- Proficiency in English is required, and fluency in French is a plus.
