Position Summary  

 

As SWS Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for coordinating and executing safety programs, ensuring compliance with regulations, maintaining ISO certifications, and fostering a safety culture. You will need to engage with employees and contractors, coach supervisors, and collaborate in implementing safety programs to ensure safety through numerous initiatives.   

 

A Day in the Life of a SWS Safety Specialist

 

  • Foster a safety culture and actively engage with employees and contractors to prevent at-risk behaviors
  • Collaborate on implementing best-in-class safety programs and procedures
  • Provide safety expertise and partner with key functions to deliver on safety goals
  • Coach and guide managers in their safety responsibilities and engage in accident management
  • Assist in safety certifications and ensure compliance with legal requirements and company policies
  • Conduct field monitoring to ensure safety compliance and provide feedback to employees
  • Evaluate compliance with PPE requirements, oversee contractor trainings, and review safety paperwork
  • Suggest and execute communication plans to promote safety awareness

 

What will make you successful

 

  • CFST safety specialist certification
  • Extensive experience in safety, preferably in administrative and general services
  • Analytical skills to identify multiple root causes and influence behavioral change
  • Coaching experience in different environments and leading management system audits
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, influencing without authority.
  • Ability to anticipate issues, manage personnel, and meet financial targets
  • Extraverted with a caring, yet professional attitude and a pragmatic, out-of-the-box thinking approach
  • Fluent in French and English, with the willingness to engage with employees, visitors, and contractors
