Material Handler (Factory)

The Material Handler is responsible for safely operating electric powered stand up counterbalance forklift to move palletized ingredients from warehouse location to production line.  This role is also responsible for adhering to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) that are in effect assuring the quality and quantity of product produced.  Additionally, this role may be required to serve as back-up for other warehouse roles.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Positions forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials and transports load to designated area.
  • Unloads and stacks material by using lifting device.
  • Replenishes production lines with raw and packaging materials as needed.
  • Returns materials to warehouse during changeovers or end of run.
  • Delivers recycled materials to recycling room.
  • Positions and weighs pallets
  • Documents information as per SOP.
  • Complies with company policies and procedures and maintains regular work attendance.
  • Follows safety rules, SOPs and GMPs guidelines.
  • Willingness/capability to cross train/learn job functions in other areas of the warehouse team in the facility.
  • Willingness to train others as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Inventory counts as needed.
  • Operates packaging and processing equipment.

 

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • Work environment may be exposed to powders, chemicals, and allergens (Dairy).
  • Must be able to successfully complete Nestle forklift certification training.
  • Willing to train others.

 

EXPERIENCE: 

  • One year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Prior warehouse and forklift experience preferred.
  • Forklift experience with push-back racking a plus.

 

SKILLS:

    • Must be able to respond to verbal and written instructions.
    • Must be willing to use digital tools such as iPads, computers, etc.
    • Interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English.
    • Add, subtract, multiply and divide.
    • Safely operate forklift.
