We are looking for an experienced Food Safety Coordinator to join the Quality team based in our Wahgunyah Factory, the home of Nestlé Uncle Toby’s Snacks and Cereals. The Food Safety Coordinator will lead and ensure effective implementation of the Food Safety Management System, including HACCP and all Pre-Requisite Programs.


A day in the life…


Reporting to the QA Manager, key responsibilities include but not limited to: 

 

  • Ensure effective implementation of the HACCP program; including, but not limited to, HACCP plan review and revision; alignment with QMS and SAP inspection plans; and verification and validation of control measures.
  • Drive and support the effectiveness of the PRPs related to food safety and hygiene; including, but not limited to, Zoning; Pathogen Monitoring; Foreign Body prevention; Hygiene & Housekeeping; Allergen Management    
  • Ensure appropriate monitoring of the food safety of raw material, Semi finished Goods and packaging materials.
  • Support the NPD process by supporting risk assessments of new raw materials.
  • Support engineering projects by conducting risk assessments and providing advice about cleanability, hygienic design, and site standards on equipment design and plant layout.
  • Support the Maintenance and Industrial Services teams by providing technical support for programs such as contamination risks from maintenance activities.
  • Support Production in ensuring GMP standards are adhered to. Own the site's GMP improvement list and prioritise the areas in which the GMP budget will be spent.
  • Participate in the factory's internal audit programme. 
  • Ensure the performance of structured root cause analysis after incidents related to food safety or hygiene failures have occurred.
  • Own and deliver training related to HACCP, housekeeping, hygiene and other food safety elements.


What will make you successful

 

  • Joining a collaborative team of specialists, you will be self-motivated, proactive and have a proven capacity to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Enjoy working within cross-functional teams in a dynamic work environment.
  • Tertiary qualification in Food Science or related field of study.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a quality specialist, preferably in HACCP. 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills and a proven capacity to influence and negotiate to drive high standards of performance and quality.
  • Passionate about working for Nestlé and sharing its purpose
  • Previous experience and familiarity working with SAP preferred.
  • A working understanding of Australian Food Regulations is beneficial.
  • Understanding of and commitment to Safety, Health, Environment, Food Safety and Quality.
