We are looking for an experienced Product Technologist to join our Wahgunyah Factory, the home of Nestlé Uncle Toby’s Snacks and Cereals. This role will act as a key contact point between marketing and the factory to develop and progress new products and cost optimisation projects to commercialisation stage, while ensuring that Nestlé standards and procedures are maintained in respect to quality, safety, competitiveness and profitability.
A day in the life…
Reporting to the Applications Group Manager, key responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Drive new product development from concept to launch, working closely with Marketing, Factory and Suppliers to deliver successful trials and product releases
- Lead and support factory trials, feasibility studies, commissioning, and evaluation of results
- Provide ongoing technical support for existing products, packaging, systems and documentation
- Ensure products meet food safety, quality, nutritional and regulatory requirements (HACCP, pHACCP, labelling, trade practices)
- Identify and lead cost optimisation, raw material sourcing and recipe improvement initiatives
- Manage specifications, BOMs, labelling and artwork approvals within SAP and related systems
- Support sensory evaluation, quality audits, continuous improvement and factory initiatives
- Champion safety, health, environment, food safety and quality standards across all activities
- Collaborate across teams and build strong internal and external networks to stay ahead of product, packaging and sustainability trends
What will make you successful
- Joining a collaborative team of specialists, you will be self-motivated, proactive and have a proven capacity to work effectively within a team environment.
- Enjoy working within cross-functional teams in a dynamic work environment.
- Tertiary Qualification in Food Science/Technology, or similar field of study.
- 3+ years in Product Development, preferably in a food related environment.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills and a proven capacity to influence and negotiate to drive high standards of performance and quality.
- Passionate about working for Nestlé and sharing its purpose
- Previous experience and familiarity working with SAP preferred.
- A working understanding of Australian Food Regulations is beneficial.
- Understanding of and commitment to Safety, Health, Environment, Food Safety and Quality.
