Position Summary:
Reporting to Sr Manager Supply Chain Operations, the Specialist, Operational Buyer is a key cross functional position accountable for influencing and collaborating with internal and external partners.
The position is responsible for establishing and delivering sustainable business processes and practices related to the daily supply of materials and services needs critical to the Nestle VOWST Donor Collection Facilities (DCFs) and Donor Screening Lab (DSL) sites as well as the QC laboratory in Waltham, MA warehousing operation (but may be asked to support other Cambridge locations as needed). This role is a good fit for someone who enjoys process improvement and is skilled in developing procedures and work instructions for new processes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Accountable for buying materials and procurement services to support daily operations functional needs in compliance with organizational quality standards and SOPs
• Ensures prompt and accurate processing of requisitions, purchase orders and invoice resolution (as needed) in support of VOWST related departments and financial goals
• Upon material receipt ensure all documents needed for receiving and release have been provided by the supplier
• Works closely with Nestle VOWST sites and Seres CMO procurement ensuring material requirement plans are being supported
• Manages day-to-day supplier communications to ensure timely resolution of issues and material shortages
• Support Supply Chain management to execute the procurement process within the Nestle ERP system
• Owns the day-to-day warehouse operational execution of receipts and shipments within the Boston Cambridge campuses 9FA and 200SS QC labs including, but not limited to, international shipments, paperwork, LSP orders, shipping materials inventory, and local inventory management
• May be asked to partner with Seres CMO warehouse personnel to support/integrate the 200SS warehouse operations specific to the Nestle QC lab
• Manages materials necessary for the Nestle Cambridge, DSL, and DCF sites to perform shipping and receiving.
• Manages account and relationship with local Cambridge 3rd party logistics providers
• Performs material transfers with off-site storage facilities, timely and accurate inventory/data transactions related to material receipt, material transfers, and disposal and cycle counting cadence.
• Support R&D/QC/QA operations; perform kitting and transfer of needed materials to requesting departments.
• Author and execute warehouse operations SOPs, work instructions and participates in investigations involving scope of accountability.
Experience and Education Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree with at least 2+ years of strategic sourcing, warehouse and logistics, or related experience with defined scope & responsibility in technical procurement or supply chain categories and/or experience within a life sciences organization in drug discovery research roles or commercial manufacturing
• Experience in vendor management
• Strategic sourcing experience in the research development space or related experience supporting the pharmaceutical industry
• Exposure to or experience working in a Good Manufacturing Procedures (GMP) environment preferred
• Project management, analytical, strategic, and decision-making skills; oral & written communications, teambuilding, and leadership
• ERP experience (SAP preferred)
• Able to adapt to new and complex environments
