Position Summary

As a Lead Technician, you will have the opportunity to work in one of three factory departments: BUS (Batching, Unloading, Slurry), Processing, or Packaging. You will be the lead within your area of responsibility, supporting peer technicians and upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance. You will contribute to safe and efficient operation of the respective department by safely producing quality products at the right rate and right time, using Nestle Continuous Excellence (NCE) processes and tools.

 

In addition, you will play a key role in monitoring, maintaining, and operating equipment, leading troubleshooting, and making adjustments to provide optimal equipment and quality performance based on data or sampling.  This position will require adherence to key standard routines and adjusting only as a valid action in response to problem solving. You will maintain all aspects of the equipment by providing area expertise, be capable of certifying as a trainer, and ensure technicians have means for escalating issues.

 

This position will require travel up to 50% for training purposes to other Nestle Purina operating facilities until the Williamsburg Township facility reaches operation and/or you are fully qualified in your role. The travel will significantly reduce once the Williamsburg Township facility is operational.

 

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Champion safety, quality, and performance standard routines through coaching and modeling strong behaviors to the technicians
  • Perform Preventative Standard Routines to include performance of basic lubrication, repairs, inspection, calibrations, and identify defects to complete or coordinate repairs.
  • Acts as a subject matter lead in assigned area of responsibility to provide support, guidance, and coaching to qualify technicians in their roles.
  • Responsible for first line of support in troubleshooting equipment and failures within area of responsibility by leveraging problem solving tools. Support technicians in making all necessary adjustments to equipment, including changeovers as necessary.
  • Ensure and coach to compliance and data accuracy for systems within area of responsibility
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives, by participating on collaborative teams and identifying improvement opportunities independently.
  • Communicate and coordinate with other departments to maintain production requirements.
  • Trains and is qualified to work as a technician in their area of responsibility. Rotate positions with others in respective department.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED equivalent
  • 1+ years’ experience working in a fast-paced, performance-measured role within a production, manufacturing, industrial or related environment 
  • Must be willing to travel up to 50% for training purposes until factory operational startup and/or you are fully qualified in your role.  There will be little to no travel required once the Williamsburg Township facility is operational.

 

Other

  • Experience with training, problem solving and/or continuous improvement techniques preferred 
  • SAP experience preferred

The approximate starting hourly pay for this position is $33.00 an hour. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
