Joining Nestlé Purina as an Associate Quality Manager in the Management Development Program means you're joining our factory family at a management level and be immersed in a highly technical and high-quality production environment to play a key role in achieving our standards of continuous excellence. You’ll be responsible for maintaining quality and safety programs, validating regulations, and providing support for various projects. You’ll experience a unique breadth of work within your functional area and focus on becoming a domain expert at the factory you’re assigned to.


This position will start at Nestle Purina’s new Williamsburg Township, OH factory - just 30 miles east of Cincinnati. This world-class factory will be built from the ground up to produce a wide variety of some of the most trusted and beloved pet care brands in the U.S. This position will require at least 50% travel for the first 12-18 months and will gradually reduce from there. The travel will include training and onboarding at other Nestle Purina operating facilities and will assist with the start up of our Eden, NC plant. 

 

Primary Responsbilities

  • Promote and support employee safety through leadership by example, participation in factory Behavior Based Safety program, and all associated activities. 
  • Implement, support, maintain, audit, and continuously improve Nestle Quality Management System (QMS), Food Safety Management System (FSMS), Food Safety and Quality Programs, Pre-Requisite Programs, Internal Control Program, and all Compliance & Regulatory Programs.
  • Implement and drive continuous improvement in corporate quality initiatives, internal quality audits, lab analyst and operator training, consumer analysis and action, specification compliance, and corrective action items. 
  • Ensure all raw materials, packaging materials, rework, and finished goods meet all food safety and quality specifications prior to use and release for shipment. Ensure factory has a robust traceability program. Work cross-functionally with Buying, Materials, Production, Accounting, and Warehouse Departments to resolve ingredient and finished product quality issues in a timely, cost-effective manner and drive continuous improvement. 
  • Trend key performance indicators in Quality, implement corrective actions to support continuous improvement.
  • Provide support to QA Team Leaders in the supervision of QA Lab staff and assist with department trainings, coaching, performance reviews, coaching and disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure correct functioning of the QA laboratories. Responsible for assuring compliancy to Biosafety and Biosecurity instructions impacting company laboratories per guidance from the BSO or corporate Biosafety Officer. 
  • Work closely with multiple groups in corporate headquarters to implement new programs, new products, and review factory quality program.


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, Life Sciences, or related scientific discipline 
  • 3+ years' experience in a quality assurance or production role in a food/beverage manufacturing, industrial, military, or related environment
  • 1+ year supervisory experience
  • Must be willing to travel at least 50% for the first 12-18 months
  • Must be open to relocation to one or more of our 23 production facilities across the U.S.


OTHER

  • HAACP, Food Safety, Auditing, Laboratory and Pest Management experience preferred
