Your Impact
As a Maintenance Engineer at Purina, you will play a crucial role in supporting our transition to a line-centric approach aimed at enhancing production efficiencies. This position is integral to the factory's operations, working collaboratively within an integrated engineering team. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that maintenance activities are conducted in compliance with all relevant Health and Safety legislation and site standards. You will oversee a defined set of production assets, implementing engineering strategies that drive your area towards world-class performance in safety, quality, cost, and service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance Management: Carry out reactive, preventative, and predictive maintenance activities to ensure machines are maintained in optimal condition, minimizing downtime and enhancing productivity.
- Safety Culture Promotion: Foster a safe working environment by actively driving a safety culture and identifying and eliminating safety risks within the production area.
- Team Development: Empower and inspire the production team by providing support and developing their skills, enhancing overall team capability and performance.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that all maintenance work is completed to high engineering standards, adhering to good manufacturing practices and safe systems of work at all times.
- Continuous Improvement Participation: Engage in Autonomous and Maintenance Working Groups, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives through the implementation of various tools such as inspections, breakdown analysis, and maintenance strategies.
Your ingredients for success
To be successful as a multi-skilled shift engineer, you will need a foundation of experience in both mechanical and electrical engineering, along with a commitment to safety and quality.
Other key attributes include:
- Engineering Qualification: Educated to apprenticeship level NVQ 3 or hold a recognised engineering qualification in either mechanical or electrical engineering.
- Continuous Improvement: A passion for continuous improvement and the ability to implement enhancements in processes.
- Preventative Maintenance: Knowledge of planned preventative asset maintenance practices.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Familiarity with root cause analysis tools and problem-solving methodologies.
- Lean Manufacturing: Understanding of lean manufacturing tools, including Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
- Hygiene and Safety Compliance: Ability to understand and adhere to strict hygiene rules and safety compliance standards.
