We have an excellent opportunity for a Shift Manager to join our production team in Wisbech.

Our Wisbech factory makes some of the UK’s most well-known and much-loved brands, such as Felix, Winalot and Gourmet and is constantly developing to meet the changing needs of our consumers. This factory is in its prime with significant capital investment on new lines and new exciting technology leading to fantastic development opportunities.

Your Impact
As a Shift Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the operations of a production line during your shift. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that the production plan is executed efficiently and on time, while adhering to safety, quality, hygiene, cost, and environmental standards. You will also be tasked with managing and empowering your team, fostering a collaborative environment that drives continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Management: Ensure the production plan is achieved on schedule and in compliance with all relevant standards and legal requirements. Monitor and manage operational processes to maintain high-quality output.
- Team Leadership: Lead and motivate the production team, providing coaching and support to enhance their skills and capabilities. Conduct daily meetings to align the team on priorities and performance metrics.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives for continuous improvement in operational processes, utilising methodologies such as Total Productive Maintenance (TPM). Identify areas for enhancement and implement action plans to optimise efficiency.
- Safety and Compliance: Uphold all safety, health, and environmental regulations within the production area. Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations, conducting regular audits and assessments.
- Performance Tracking: Analyse production data to track performance against key performance indicators. Report on production outcomes and provide insights for strategic decision-making.
Your ingredients for success
To be successful in this key role, we expect you to have experience working in a fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) manufacturing environment. Your ability to manage and inspire a diverse team will be crucial in achieving operational excellence.
Key Skills and Experience
- Essential Qualifications: Proven experience in a FMCG manufacturing environment, demonstrating an understanding of production processes and standards.
- People Management: Experience managing, motivating, coaching, and coordinating a large shift to deliver results effectively.
- Coaching Skills: Demonstrated ability to apply coaching techniques to develop team members' capabilities and enhance performance.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Proficient in identifying root causes of problems and implementing plans to reduce or eliminate them, ensuring continuous improvement.
- Desirable Experience: Understanding of safety, engineering, quality, and labour regulations, along with experience using SAP or equivalent technology. Total Productive Maintenance or LEAN manufacturing experience would be advantageous.
