A day in the life of a Demand Planner

The purpose of the role is to support the development of a robust Category Demand plan, successfully engaging in cross functional activities to ensure high levels of planning accuracy and customer service.

The Category Demand and Supply Planning Manager will support you in achieving these objectives, however you will be afforded a high degree of responsibility early on in this largely autonomous role. Therefore, an overriding desire to not only achieve KPIs but to exceed them will be critical for success.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Management of the 0–3-month horizon Demand Plan, in terms of execution of new product launches, product changes and minimising the impact of customer volatility on the demand plan.
  • Management of the 4–18-month horizon Demand Plan, in terms of participation in the monthly business planning process and cross functional interaction to develop the most robust forecast possible.
  • Working with the demand analyst to provide robust information to support optimum outputs from the statistical forecast process
  • Validating the demand plan using history, insight and current trends.
  • Assistance in the proactive management of short supply lines, working with Customer Facing Supply Chain, Sales Operations and Product Supply to minimise case failures
  • Play a pivotal role in forecast alignment between Commercial, Finance and Supply Chain
  • Support the Monthly Business Planning process and ensure relevant attendance at key meetings.

What will make you successful

As the successful candidate, you will have experience working in Supply Chain (ideally within other Demand & Supply Planning roles or Customer Facing Supply Chain). Preferably you will have gained this experience within the FMCG sector establishing an understanding of the end-to-end process.

You will have the ability to plan ahead and meet deadlines and be able to achieve results and make an impact whilst building strong relationships with key stakeholders.

Other competencies required are:

Proven ability to work as part of a virtual team and to work autonomously

Demonstrable analytical skills
Ability to plan and prioritise work effectively
Open to new ways of doing things

In return, the Supply Chain team will offer you all the support and guidance necessary to succeed. This is a great opportunity to work within a talented and dedicated team.

What you need to know

What can we offer in return? Great benefits you’d expect from a business the size of Nestlé – in the shape of a competitive salary and benefits package, bonus scheme, flexible working scheme, 25 days holiday plus statutory holidays plus flex leave, pension scheme and a real focus on personal development and growth.
