Scheme: 2 x Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Apprentice Scheme  
Start date: September 2026 
Scheme duration: 18 months
Salary: £26,000  
Location: 1 x Dalston (Cumbria) & 1 x York (North Yorkshire)
Work Pattern: Full time on site with some travel to other Nestlé locations as required 

 

What will you do? 
Join our SHE Apprenticeship scheme and begin an exciting journey towards a rewarding career with the world’s largest food and drink manufacturer. This opportunity is ideal if you are passionate about keeping people safe, protecting the environment and making a positive difference in workplace SHE. You will be ambitious to lean and work alongside expert SHE professionals who will provide you with support and mentorship whilst completing a recognised SHE apprenticeship.  

 

You will gain insights into the workings of how a complex manufacturing organisation works in an ever changing environment where you will be empowered to make decisions and gain hands-on experience across a wide range of SHE situations. •    Hands-on experience: You will take on genuine responsibilities that directly contribute to the successful delivery of SHE objectives and activities, allowing you to see the results of your efforts firsthand. 
•    Diverse exposure: Our roles offer a breadth of experiences from delivering training, writing communications through to investigating incidents and reporting to name just a few areas you would get involved in. Each day will present new challenges that enable you to develop your understanding of SHE and problem-solving skills.

If successful in securing a role after completing the apprenticeship with us, you may be required to relocate to other Nestlé sites across the UK. 

 

What will you learn? 
•    SHE fundamentals: Develop a solid understanding of SHE principles while working in a fast-paced environment where your decisions can influence operational performance, product quality, and workplace safety.
•    Innovative problem-solving: Leverage the skills you develop during the scheme to address real-time SHE challenges. Identifying opportunities and implementing creative solutions for sustainable success. 
•    Agility and adaptability: Embrace the challenge of collaborating with a range of different teams and adapting to various areas of the factory and office environments. 
•    System and tools: Gain exposure to SHE systems, risk assessments, incident investigations, auditing and continuous improvement activities.
•    Continuous industry insight: Gain firsthand experience of emerging trends and external factors that influence SHE practices, deepening your understanding of the ever-evolving SHE landscape.

Eligibility requirements 

•    You will need to have the right to work in the UK that is not time-limited and does not require sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route either at the start of the scheme or on completion.   
•    You will have lived in the UK for 3 years prior to the start date of this apprenticeship scheme. 
•    Maths and English Language GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 9-4 (A*-C if taken before 2017). Original certificates will need to be provided during the recruitment process. 
•    You will need to be 18 by the 1st September 2026. 
•    You will need to meet the Apprentice Government eligibility criteria for this role.
