Salary c£35,000 depending on experience + bonus + benefits package

Position Summary

We are recruiting for a Senior Confectioner who will report to the Expert Line Manager for Confectioners.

 

The Senior Confectioner will work in the exciting environment of the expanding R&D Centre in York working for the Nestlé Confectionery Business.

A day in the life of...

The candidate will be working on mainly project related activities e.g. the development and improvement of new and existing products using kitchen, pilot plant and industrial scale equipment according to commercial requirements.

 

The Confectioner will also:

 

  • Participate in providing technical assistance.
  • Liaise with suppliers to progress projects efficiently.
  • Be aware of developments in confectionery, ingredients, food processing and food technology in general
  • Propose new ideas/projects/methods by generating new and innovative concepts in line with the business
What Will Make You Successful?

To be considered for this role, we are looking for the following skills and experience:

 

  • Good level of English, other languages are desirable.
  • High Level of initiative
  • Good team working skills
  • Excellent communicator
  • Competent confectionery skills
  • Willingness to travel
  • Willingness to learn
     

The key practical skills we are looking for are:

 

Chocolate making

Chocolate handling (key skill set)

    • Tempering
    • Moulding
    • Shelling
    • Enrobing

Filling making and preparation

Sugar confectionery (desirable)

    • Hard boil
    • Fondant making
    • Fudges and caramel

Wafer baking (desirable)

 

The final successful candidate will have past a practical and theoretical testing at the PTC in York.
