Salary Circa £43,000  

 

Our confectionary factory is a 24/7 operation, this is a permanent opportunity for a Shift Lead role where you will move around the Factory supporting numerous different departments.

 

 

Position Summary

This is a great opportunity to be part of our operational team in our York Confectionary Factory. Your main accountability will be to achieve performance targets by co-ordinating the shift in reaction to operational needs, including resources, people and planning. You will also need to maintain a safe working environment with a strong focus on zero accidents whilst delivering accurate production plans in terms of schedule, output, quality, hygiene, cost and customer feedback. This position will provide shift leader support for York factory, where Shift Lead cover is required. This will give the successful candidate the opportunity to gain great exposure to the different areas and stakeholders within the Factory.

A day in the life of a Shift Leader

You will be the first point of contact for shop floor escalations, working alongside Line Technicians, Process Operators & Line Operators to ensure cleaning, changeovers, problem solving and all required NCE activities are completed on time and to schedule. Facilitating continuous improvement, skills development of the shift team and co-ordinating appropriate actions whenever necessary. You will drive Manufacturing Excellence through working with AWG’s and delivering against the factory TPM activities and Key Performance Indicators. You will need to demonstrate you always care about delivering high quality products and have a good understanding of Goods Manufacturing Principles.  You will be able to demonstrate ownership; high levels of teamwork and results focus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe and healthy working environment
  • Drive Manufacturing Excellence
  • Ensure that finished products are consistently manufactured according to standards of quality and relevant manufacturing instructions
  • Ensure that the working areas are kept clean and are maintained in working order including all installations in accordance to Nestlé Good Manufacturing Practices (NGMP)
  • Represent production effectively at operational reviews
  • Utilise Standard Routines to ensure sustainable results
  • Ensure Conversion Costs are in line with budget by managing waste, rework, overfilling and variance
  • Coordinate issues on shift including day to daytime and attendance, labour planning, absence management
  • Ensure constant communication with relevant stakeholders (line shift teams,  Area Manager, Line Performance Managers, Maintenance, Unions, functional representatives on the line)

The successful candidate will have a record of high performance in their current role and will be looking to develop themselves in a new challenge in line with their Development & Performance Review aspirations. They will have good communication and leadership skills as communicating effectively with people at all levels within the business will be part of your daily role.

 

In order to succeed in this role, you will need to be able to inspire, motivate and coach your team, enabling them to develop the tools and behaviours they will need to support our journey to manufacturing excellence. You should also have a strong ability for creatively finding solutions to problems and suggesting new ways of working to enable the factory to compete at a higher level.

This is a fantastic role for someone who enjoys coaching, solving problems and exploring ways to improve on safety, quality and performance whilst meeting consumer needs and delivering the Factory Operational Master Plan.
