Position Summary  
The Commercial Development Team (CDT) have a fantastic opportunity for a Strategic Category Manager to join their team. You will join a supportive team who share the value of open communication to generate impact and return towards our common goals. Both working independently and cross functionally across the Confectionery category, you will be responsible for defining and delivering future based opportunities using your initiative to build long term plans and achieve ambitious strategic goals aligned to the wider business.  
 
Key to this role will be your ability to energise and engage key internal and external stakeholders including Senior Leadership, and the ability to coach and influence throughout key activities.

A day in the life of a Strategic Category Manager...  
In this role, you will be responsible for building market leading 3 year format plans using shopper, retailer and consumer insight, channel and customer prioritisation, category strategy outputs, pricing and promotional strategies. The role will require strong commercial acumen to drive improved growth and profitability. 
 
Cross functional work will be a key part of the role and there is a particular need to give consistent year-round support to our sales team, showcasing category thought-leadership and building relations with key external stakeholders. 
 
You’ll also need to take responsibility for building the organisation through coaching, supporting and constructive challenge of other functions.

 

What will make you successful 
This is a unique opportunity to develop your leadership skills by delivering new thinking into the Category. You will have:

  • Managed complex agendas across multiple customers, channels and brands whilst engaging multiple stakeholders
  • Experience of creating and selling winning category plans within an FMCG environment
  • The ability to coach and lead a wide range of stakeholders both internally and externally 
  • Strategic thinking 
  • Highly developed commercial acumen 
  • Strong influencing and communication skills at all levels, both up and down the organisation 
  • Be courageous, we’re not afraid to think differently and embrace new ideas. We want you to disrupt what we do in the right way to drive great results and change. 
  • Passionate about building strong relationships 
  • Results focused 
  • FMCG or Retail experience is preferred, within food categories 
  • Line management experience would be preferred
