Position Summary

 

Nestlé UK&I is seeking a talented Transport Planning Service Manager.  Transportation and Logistics is recognised within Nestlé as a strategically important part of our Operations Team.  The ability to ensure that our products are available to our Consumers at the time that they request them  

 

Over the last few years, Nestlé have been centralising the management of freight through the deployment of standard tools and processes as well as launching 4 European Transport Hubs.  The Transport Hub in York primarily takes responsibility for the planning and execution of cross-border freight across continental Europe, roughly 120,000 annual shipments and spend responsibility in excess of 150m €.     

 

This role can offer the right person a very interesting role in a dynamic and international environment.  Working as part of the Zone Europe Transport Leadership Team but with a huge level of autonomy, you will be part of a major transformation in the way transport is managed; leveraging Nestlé’s significant logistics scale to unlock benefits in sustainability, service and cost.

 

 

A day in the life of a Transport Planning Service Manager

 

Reporting into the THub Manager, you will be a key member of the leadership team in York and responsible for leading a team of 15, who are accountable for driving the service, cost and sustainability ambitions and performance of all inter-market supply across Europe. Working across c250 transport providers, servicing all Nestle categories (except Nestle Waters) and tracking over 2500 orders a week.

 

Your responsibilities will include:


•    Monitoring and maintaining key service KPIs especially cost, on time collection/delivery, CO2 emissions.
•    Ensure quality solutions are developed and deployed to meet or exceed service expectations and ensure proactive communication of team.  

•    Working with the team to identify systemic issues related to carriers, Factories & DC's, Customs, customers, traffic, weather, etc., and facilitate the development of sustainable solutions. 
•    Engage with key stakeholders across the broad matrix organisation in European markets & Categories ensuring THUB services and requirements are understood, and reviewed, on a regular basis.
•    Line management and leadership of team members, following people cycle and their personal development.
•    Ensure that Nestlé Continuous Excellence (NCE) principles are used to identify issues and used effectively in the team to improve performance.
•    Work with Supply Chain teams to eliminate all transport failures.
 

What will make you successful?

 

You will have a demonstratable knowledge and exposure of the Supply Chain end to end processes.  You will have experience of working in a fast-paced operational environment with broad stakeholder management.  You will have knowledge of international or domestic transport, ideally across Europe and have some understanding of warehouse processes.  You will like a challenge and to think outside the box. You will understand how to succeed and exceed and how to engage and enable your team to do the same. You will have proven line management experience of a team and demonstrate leadership.  You will have a keen interest in coaching and developing people.   

 

You will have strong communication skills and an ability to build effective working relationships across a variety of teams in European markets and with hauliers.     

 

You’ll also:-


•    Be fluent in English (speaking and writing) - Essential
•    Ideally have language skills in either Spanish, Polish, German or French – Desirable
