Position Summary

We have a fantastic, opportunity for a Transport Scheduling Manager to join our UK&I delivery team. This is an important role as part of our wider logistics function.

 

This role leads a team in strategic, tactical, and operational decisions to ensure an effective 24/7 service focused operations. 

 

Ensuring that the team works collaboratively across total UK&I network to meet business KPIs and quality standards, whilst identifying continuous improvement opportunities and supporting implementation of new initiatives. 
 

A day in the life of a Transport Scheduling Manager

The main purpose of this role will be to lead a team that provides the efficient and effective planning of own fleet and 3rd party primary transport for the clearance of factories, supply of liquid chocolate, WIP, supplier collections and customer deliveries on a 24/7 basis. 

 

You will lead your team to provide a link between all Nestle businesses, Order to Cash and Network (factories, co manufacturers/copackers, distribution centres). You will manage the flow of work between these parties to maximise service whilst minimising total overall cost and environmental impact. 

 

As this role is key in supporting a 24/7 supply chain operation, there is the expectation of on call flexibility for escalations that may fall outside of your normal working hours. This can be discussed in more detail at interview stage.                 

 

Other key outputs/responsibilities:

 

  • As part of Delivery Leadership team, you will create an environment where the team can adapt to, and succeed with, change. Contribute to creating and implementing strategic direction whilst developing and sharing best practice for the whole team.

 

  • To oversee the capture of all UK&I primary transport demand and the planning of own & 3rd party fleets to provide the most effective service at the least possible cost whilst supporting sustainability ambitions and with due regard to all relevant legislation (including SHE).

 

  • Establish and review best practice benchmarking and application (with contract management and finance team) to ensure robust cost to serve model. This will include Total transport spend, Cost Per Load/ km, empty running, utilization, CO2e and allocation and spend of subcontracting              .                                                                     

 

What will make you successful

As a key leadership position within the UK&I Delivery team, the incoming candidate must be a self-starter and able to achieve required results with the minimum of management intervention.

 

The ability to take a pragmatic approach to problem solving whilst in a high-pressure environment will be vital.

 

Other desired experiences (unless otherwise stated):

  • Extensive experience of fast moving, highly flexible distribution environment with high customer service ethos   - Essential         
  • Certificate of Professional Competence can be attained in role but if you have this already this will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of UK transport legislation can be attained in role but if you have this already this will be an advantage.
  • Tactical use of resource and prioritisation.
  • Good geographic knowledge of the UK
