Our pet food factory in Zanesville is favorably located along the banks of the Muskingum River in scenic east-central Ohio halfway between Columbus and Wheeling, West Virginia. This 100-year-old facility was acquired by Nestlé Purina in 1987 and has since evolved to incorporate our innovative portfolio of products, processes, and technical equipment. 

 

Position Summary

 

As a Packing Operator, you will support your peers and team members while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and environmental performance. Your role will involve ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the department by producing quality products at the appropriate rate and time, utilizing Nestlé Continuous Excellence (NCE) processes. Additionally, Packing Operators monitor the quality and quantity of sealed finished product pouches and pack them into cartons or club packs.

 

Primary Responsibilities

 

 

  • Work safely at all times by following all safety policies and procedures; participate in safety, team, and plant-wide meetings.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of best practices for packing finished product.
  • Operate the control panel to ensure pouch flow is properly matched to carton speed.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) to support product safety and sanitation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area at all times.
  • Visually inspect product in pouches to ensure correct color, shape, ratio, and quality, and to identify broken product, foreign material, excessive fines, clumps, or material balls.
  • Inspect each pouch for integrity, including proper seals, correct bag length, accurate weight, presence of tape from a film splice, and food product in the seal.
  • Ensure neat and accurate placement of pouches into cartons.

 

Basic Qualifications

 

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required
  • 1-2 years of manufacturing or related experience required

 

The approximate hourly pay range for this position is $25.90. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
