Our pet food factory in Zanesville is favorably located along the banks of the Muskingum River in scenic east-central Ohio halfway between Columbus and Wheeling, West Virginia. This 100-year-old facility was acquired by Nestlé Purina in 1987 and has since evolved to incorporate our innovative portfolio of products, processes, and technical equipment. Zanesville is the only Nestlé Purina location that produces Moist & Meaty® and Dog Chow Soft Bites for all of the United States and Canada—packaged and shipped with the utmost quality and nutrition. 

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY: 

 

As a Packing Weight Control Operator, you will adhere to all safety, health, quality, and environmental standards while performing job responsibilities. You will operate form/fill/seal machines efficiently, consistently meeting targets for yield, variance, and throughput. You will utilize Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) to uphold product safety and sanitation standards.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Follow all safety policies and procedures. Participate in safety, team, and plant-wide meetings, attend required safety and functional trainings and perform Behavior-Based Safety observations.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of department best practices, equipment operation, and basic maintenance procedures.
  • Accurately perform movements, declarations, and consumptions of packaging materials using an RF scanner and SAP.
  • Ensure a high standard of quality for finished product both before and after pouching.
  • Conduct machine adjustments and calibrations to maintain optimal pouch packing quality.
  • Troubleshoot production interruptions by identifying issues, proposing solutions, assisting in corrections, and reporting downtime in RedZone systems.
  • Perform all required quality audits, including packaging, finished product, and changeover audits. Enter information into RedZone as required.
  • Strive to achieve finished product yield targets, ensuring compliance with weight regulations and minimizing overpack and strip-out.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Experience: 1-2 years of manufacturing experience required

 

OTHER:

 

Must be willing to work overnights and weekends
