POSITION SUMMARY:

 

As an Environmental Engineer you will be a key site leader responsible for environmental and energy program leadership and management.  You will ensure legal and regulatory compliance, as well as maintain ISO 14001 Environmental Management System Certification.  In addition, you will manage waste budget, energy budget (electric, natural gas, fuel oil) and lead efforts in energy usage conservation and reductions.

 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Lead energy and environmental efforts within an NCE framework ensuring focused priorities, aligned and visible measures, result focused continuous improvement and problem solving, aligned teamwork and effective communication
  • Fulfill role as Ammonia Refrigeration Program Manager by providing technical oversight in accordance with the IIAR Ammonia Refrigeration Management Program (ARM)
  • Site emergency contact and Incident Commander for emergency evolutions such as diesel spill, ammonia leak, odor incident, etc.
  • Maintain ISO 14001 certification with continual improvement of the environmental management system for the Factory
  • Ensure compliance and efficiency of utilities including steam, refrigeration, water supply (well and potable), waste water, compressed air, HVAC, water treatment program (potable, boilers, retorts, cooling towers), and other utilities.
  • Administrate waste disposal contracts (scrap meat, slurry, sludge, solid waste, hazardous waste, recyclable, etc)
  • Site liaison to Division Energy and Environmental staff ensuring communication and alignment.  Liaison to local authorities, neighbors and community regarding site environmental aspects/impacts and complaints.
  • Energy, water and waste usage reporting, budgeting, and invoicing
  • Provide environmental review of capital projects

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Environmental, Civil, or equivalent 
  • 2+ years' experience in Engineering/Environmental Sustainability, preferably in a manufacturing, industrial, or related discipline

The approximate pay range for this position is $73,000 - $98,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
