The Marketing Director is responsible for leading the long-term strategy and short-term business results of the Nestlé USA Ready-To-Drink Beverage Portfolio. This includes creating the three-year ambition for the Business Unit as well as delivering the annual $ Share, OG, and COP1 targets. The Market Director leads the RTD business across the 4Ps and is responsible for uniting all of the demand levers in each Category RTD plays: Flavored Milks, Protein, Coffee, and Sports Drinks. The Marketing Director is responsible for a cohesive long-term plan that bonds Marketing Communications and Innovation/Renovation activity with external shopper and customer activity. This role requires the Marketing Director to perform in a General Manager capacity, with multiple marketing direct reports and indirect line of reporting to the cross-functional team, highly independent in crafting the strategic direction and defining the necessary resource allocation to accomplish the established goals. In addition, the Marketing Director should posses’ strong analytical skills coupled with an elevated understanding of base business management and the ability to extract value through base optimization, trade off analysis, the creation of new playbooks and ways of working, and deep manufacturing and customer understanding. The role requires high professional maturity and a self-motivated inspirational leader. 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 


Strategy 

  • Create Category,Portfolio, and Channel Strategy. 
  • Drive the development & execution of business and equity building plans to support the strategy.  
  • Lead cross-functional team to develop and drive effective 3-year growth strategies.  
  • Build effective demand generation plans.   
  • Analyze marketplace performance data to refine & optimize strategy and plans.  
  • Own SBU Interaction. 

Collaborative Commercial Planning 

  • Lead Insights, Marketing, Commercial Development, and Customer teams in developing demand-generation plans and budget allocations for the upcoming year.  
  • Own key line items within P&L for brand/category. 
  • Collaborate closely with finance co-pilot and cross-functional team to ensure financial targets and growth objectives are met.  
  • Is key driver of category roadmaps (working in Collaboration with Category Shopper Development organization), to orchestrate long term profit & share growth at key accounts.   Work with CSD/Sales to identify and implement scale programs at key retailers. 
  • Participate in Operations meetings on behalf of brand/category.   

Insights 

  • Develop the overall learning plan for a brand/category, including consumer and shopper insight explorations, to fully understand the needs for the brand and category.
  • Collaborate with Market Research on the Insight Learning Plan to ensure a strong foundation of all brand activities. 
  • Lead direct reports in the extraction of insights across communications and Innovation & Renovation.  

Innovation & Renovation

  • Own the development, execution and validation of brand(s) pipelines.     
  • Sponsor resulting product & packaging I & R projects. 
  • Lead Marketing Managers in creating the "go-to-market" plan for new products and integration of such propositions into long-term strategies and category roadmaps.   
  • Drives strong connections between customer / consumer needs with operational and manufacturing capabilities, to drive flawless execution and new capabilities build-up. 

Communications Planning and Agency Work

  • Own the working relationship for a brand/category with key Agency partners.  
  • Oversee new agency relationship development and agency performance management – the SOW; Annual review.
  • Input into and approve creative briefs for brand/categories with external agency partners.   
  • Collaborate with digital marketing specialists to effectively communicate to consumers through social media and community channels. 
  • Oversee marketing plan activation (including advertising, promotions, websites, mobile, CRM, email, blogger, advocacy, etc.) as well as Agency, project and budget management.  
  • Drive collaboration between brand building specialists and Digital CoE resources to leverage best practices and scale and ensure policy adherence. 

People Management  

  • Is responsible for leadership of a team of Marketing Managers and cross-functional partners, operating in a General Manager capacity. 
  • Lead by example to motivate and inspire team to exceed high performance targets. 
  • Actively communicate expectations and provide regular feedback against those expectations. 
  • Conduct the performance management process, working with each team member to evaluate performance, provide feedback and training. 
  • Work with each team member to build appropriate development plans and ensures that the training activities achieve agreed upon objectives.
  • Participate in talent recruitment and selection to staff the organizations with the best people for current jobs. 
  • Foster the sharing of best practices. 
  • Ensure retention of quality Marketing professionals to drive long-term business results. 

 

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL: 

  • Bachelors degree required. 
  • MBA or Masters degree in Marketing is preferred. 
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a Marketing Manager. The experience should include: 
    • Manager position on a key brand or portfolio within a company, in a proven E2E capacity. 
    • Extensive people leadership experience within Marketing and with cross functional teams. 
    • Work on multiple brands and a rotation through sales, CSD and/or the COE is desirable. 
    • Understanding of DSD route to market.
    • Proven ability to comprehend all levers of the 4Ps and successfully utilize all elements of the marketing mix to drive the business. 
    • Solid understanding of the P&L, key drivers of top-line growth and margin enhancement tactics.
