POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Marketing Director is responsible creating and leading deployment of strategy for Essentia end-to-end, with accountability for driving business performance and our equity within the category. This role drives the Essentia portfolio’s product, pricing, packaging, communications strategies to fulfill profit, volume and brand equity objectives. The Marketing Director is responsible for uniting the demand levers on the category and for creating a cohesive long-term plan that bonds Consumer and Product Experience (including Marketing Communications and Innovation/Renovation activity) with external shopper and customer activity. The Marketing Director leads a team across multiple direct reports and embodies an End to End Mindset connecting across the cross-functional team and allocating resources to deliver business objectives. In addition, the Marketing Director should possess strong analytical skills coupled with an elevated understanding of base business management, as well as the ability to extract value through base optimization, trade-off analysis, and deep manufacturing and consumer understanding. The role requires high professional maturity and a self-motivated inspirational leader.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Strategy:

  • Create Category and Portfolio Strategy for Essentia, leading the cross-functional team in developing the three-year growth plan
  • Analyze marketplace performance and understand our consumer deeply to strengthen the long-term growth plans
  • Lead the deployment of the strategy to directly link to the Operational Master Plan and corresponding Key Performance Indicators

 

Collaborative Commercial Planning:

  • Lead cross-functional team to develop strong Y+1 Commercial Plans, focused on demand generation and budget allocations for the upcoming year
  • Collaborate with Category, Shopper, and Commercial Development teams to create category roadmaps that deliver long term profit & share growth at key accounts  
  • Own key demand generation line items within P&L for Essentia
  • Lead cross-functional team and partner with finance co-pilot to deliver Market Share and internal financial targets and growth objectives in year

 

Insights:

  • Partner with insights team to develop the overall learning plan for a brand/category, including consumer and shopper insight explorations, to support Product, Marketing, Innovation, and full Commercial Plans

 

Innovation & Renovation (I&R):

  • Own the development, execution and validation of Essentia’s innovation pipeline to deliver for our consumers and drive Category and brand growth
  • Work closely with Product Development and Supply Chain partners to align capabilities and manufacturing needed to support new innovation
  • Build Go to Market plan for new products, collaborating with the Commercial Development and Sales teams for flawless launch execution

 

Communications Planning and Agency Work:

  • Create best-in-class breakthrough consumer campaigns, owning the end to end process, to deliver business objectives
  • Own the working relationship for Essentia with key Agency partners and lead the IAT (Integrated Agency Team), including briefing, SOW, day-to-day management, agency performance management
  • Oversee marketing plan activation (including advertising, promotions, websites, mobile, CRM, social media, community management, email, blogger, advocacy, etc.) as well as Agency, project and budget management

 

People Management: 

  • Responsible for leadership of a Brand Marketing team and cross-functional partners, operating in a General Manager capacity
  • Lead by example to motivate and inspire team to exceed high performance targets
  • Elevate and build capabilities across the team, actively communicating expectations, standards, and performance feedback
  • Build talent pipeline, recruit and retain strong talent, and actively collaborate with team members to create development plans

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to work on-site in Arlington, VA in a hybrid work schedule
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • MBA or Master’s degree in Marketing is preferred

CRITICAL EXPERIENCES:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a Marketing Manager, with proven ability to comprehend all levers of the 4Ps and successfully utilize all elements of the marketing mix to drive the business
  • Experience in a manager position on a key brand or portfolio within a company, in a proven End-to-End (E2E) capacity.
  • Extensive people leadership experience within Marketing and with cross-functional teams
  • Experience working on multiple brands and a rotation through Sales, Commercial Development, and/or Strategy. DSD experience preferred
  • Solid understanding of the P&L, key drivers of top-line growth, and margin enhancement tactics

 

The approximate annual pay range for this position is $175,000 to $235,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
