As a Senior Innovation Brand Marketing Associate, you are responsible for business development growth with focus on new brand/category whitespace and business models. Identifies new opportunities for the portfolio and builds a pipeline of innovation and opportunities to incorporate into the Market Business Strategy. Potential to include licensing, mergers and acquisition (M&A) activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Consumer & Customer Intimacy
- Develop a deep understanding of the demographics, psychographics, occasions, path to purchase and behavioral drivers of the brand/category consumer through data and research to prioritize growth opportunities
- Understand, validate and/or develop the consumer’s hidden universal truths to drive relevant innovation
- Experience leveraging data and trends to generate insights and transforming them into marketing innovation, brand building (communications), and retail programs
- Strategically chart a course for the category, portfolio and brand using data-driven decision-making; uses the various business planning cycles to build compelling stories to rally internal teams and customers
- Identify and address knowledge gaps in consumer, brand, product, business and marketplace to build a learning plan in collaboration with Shopper Marketing and Consumer Market Research to address
Business Planning
- End-to-end cross functional leadership to drive optimized portfolio & value chain
- Explore and incorporate new approaches to brand innovation in the brand’s innovation strategy including new business models, distribution strategies, potential M&A activity, licensing agreements and strategic partnerships
- Generate concepts, validate with consumers and assess on key criteria to identify winning platforms to build long term portfolio pipeline
- Facilitates periodic review of long-term plan against current market realities and business performance to identify gaps and opportunities for growth and value unlock
Brand & Product Experience
- Manage end-to-end brand projects and assignments in a way that demonstrates an understanding of key consumer insights and an ability to activate them in relevant strategy and innovation activities.
Commercial Excellence
- Build business plans and lead commercialization for new product opportunities in collaboration with a diverse cross-functional team
QUALIFICATIONS / CERTIFICATIONS:
- Extensive stakeholder management experience
- Extensive business development, scoping, and strategy experience
- Strong IRI and innovation experience with opportunity development, sizing, concepting, and agency management experience
- Ability to work independently, autonomously and must adapt quickly to change to deliver results
- Ability to translate ideas into business stories
- Strong research and strategic analysis, presentation development and presenting skills
- Strong negotiation and relationship building skills
- Leads with a growth mindset, entrepreneurial spirit, and relentless grit
- Knowledge of budget control methods, policies and procedures
- Must have strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
- Typically has a University Degree (BA/BS) in Marketing or related business field; or equivalent experience
- MBA preferred
- Ability to prioritize workload and self-manage projects, handle multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
CRITICAL EXPERIENCES
- At least 3+ years of work experience in product or brand management
- Demonstrated ability and initiative to drive cross-functional teams to deliver on collective brand goals
- Experience developing strategic plans, such as commercialization strategies
